Grassroots football in Kenya has received a significant boost following a KSh 6.7 million investment by betPawa targeting 25 community teams across the country.

The initiative will benefit at least 575 players through the provision of playing kits and training equipment aimed at improving the quality of local football and supporting emerging talent at the grassroots level.

The sponsorship package includes complete playing kits for every player comprising jerseys, shorts, and socks. Teams have also received four match balls each, alongside training bibs and goalkeeper gloves to support training sessions and competitive matches.

In total, betPawa has distributed 100 footballs, 575 training bibs, and 75 pairs of goalkeeper gloves as part of the programme.

The move is expected to address some of the challenges facing grassroots football teams, many of which continue to operate with limited resources and inadequate access to quality sports equipment.

Beneficiary clubs include Maungu All Stars FC, Majengo FC, Mwendo FC, Kisii Wazee FC, Kapkorech Starlet, St Josephus Nakuru, Maringo United, Masimba Queens, Lugusi FC, Youngboys FC, Livewire FC, Panga FC, Black Stallion FC, UNESCO FC, Kangeta Youth FC, Kangami FC, Gategi Ladies, HCE FC, Falcon Queens, Arrows of Kajembe Starlets, Atletico Kangemi SC, Kibagare Girls FC, Kick It Kenya FC, Shimanzi FC, and Nyanturago Town Boys FC.

Speaking on the initiative, Borah Ndanyungu said the programme recognises the immense football potential that exists within communities across the country.

“Because talent is everywhere in Kenya. You see it in community fields, in local leagues, in the quiet determination of players who show up every week, often with very little, but with everything to give,” she said.

The company noted that the sponsorship is also intended to create a more organised and professional environment for players and teams by ensuring access to standardised equipment.

Women’s football teams are among the beneficiaries, reflecting betPawa’s continued efforts to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities in sport.

The company has previously implemented initiatives such as the Locker Room Bonus programme, which provides equal win bonuses to both men’s and women’s teams.

The latest sponsorship highlights the growing role of corporate investment in supporting grassroots sports development and strengthening local football structures across Kenya.
