Ever heard of 1005 Songs & More? If you’re like me, you probably haven’t.
I love words, titles, names that sound out, and/or leave you intrigued. My curiosity was sparked when I received an invite to 1005 Songs & More’s Fourth Man EP launch and listening party, which happened at Weston Hotel on Friday, March 22, 2024.
Setting itself apart from conventional listening parties, the debut of The Fourth Man EP was graced by Her Excellency, Mrs. Rachel Ruto, who attended as the chief guest of honor.

About 1005 Songs & More
The group is composed of a vibrant collective of imaginative, fervent, and devout Kenyan individuals, driven by the aspiration to surpass the Biblical Solomon’s record of 1005 songs, as mentioned in 1 Kings 4:32.
They extend an invitation for others to partake in disseminating Christ’s message through their musical endeavour’s.
Their inaugural album, “Repeat,” was released in December 2023.
The listening session featured five tracks: Munoma,” which stars ‘’Shani’’ “I Will Wait,” “I Hear a Sound,” “One A Dem,” “Anticipating,” and “League of Your Own.” My personal favorites would have to be “Anticipating” and “One A Dem“.

A Conversation With The Music
In a session dubbed, “a conversation with the music”, gospel lead vocalist Andrew Awili, 1005 Songs & More shared insights and inspiration derived from God, as well as reflections on the creative process to the album.

For Andrew, he believes that Gospel music, should come in from a Scriptural setting, so that your audience is filled with the Holy Spirit through the music.
“We’re all going through something in this life. Even as 1005 Songs, we always seek to have music that’s inspired by the scripture, because we seek to use our music to speak to the audience. That hey, you’re going through trials, here’s what the Bible says about the same. You’re entrusting God to turn a situation around, here’s what the Bible says. Put scripture in Music, it speaks more than sound,” he said.
The First Lady praised the Lead vocalist, 1005 Songs & More music group for setting new standards in music production and inspiring young people. She emphasized that music has the power to deeply touch the soul and serves as a universal language.
The event also saw the attendance of numerous Kenyan notables from the entertainment sector, including Media personalities Cynthia Nyamai, Kalekye Mumo, Ben Cyco, Timeless Noel, DJs Kezz, Hobbs Klifftah, Gee Gee, along with artists Jabidii and Didi Man, among others.
