BIC, a global leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers, has concluded the fifth edition of its signature campaign, Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen. In partnership with CFK Africa, the initiative helps bridge the gap in school resources by donating one pen for every pen sold.

This year, BIC reached 150,000 students across Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, and Kajiado counties.

We are proud to be running Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen for the fifth year in Kenya,” said Paloma Lengema, General Manager, BIC East Africa. “The initiative is testament to our commitment to the education field and to providing students with the tools they need to help them perform academically. I am delighted to see the impact this initiative has on Kenyan students year-on-year and I am confident that this, and other education driven initiatives we have, will continue to create an impact in the communities in which we operate.”

Jeffrey Okoro, Executive Director at CFK Africa, added: “Education remains the most powerful tool in transforming lives, and something as simple as a pen can make a meaningful difference in a child’s learning journey. Our partnership with BIC has enabled us to reach thousands of students who lack basic writing tools. These donations help remove barriers to education and empower children to actively participate in classroom activities, ultimately improving their academic outcomes.”

Madam Rhoda, Headteacher at Arap Moi Primary School, also expressed appreciation: “We are grateful to BIC and CFK Africa. Collaborating with like-minded partners that have the interest of students, and their needs in mind is refreshing. Equipping our students with the necessary writing tools they need will certainly boost their confidence and allow them to focus on their studies and not worry about resources.”

BIC is on a mission to improve learning conditions for 250 million students by 2025. So far, the company has impacted over 200 million students worldwide through its sustainable development program, Writing the Future Together.

Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen is among several educational programs BIC runs in Kenya. Another key campaign, Express Myself with My BIC Pen (formerly My Words, My Story, My BIC Pen), launched in 2020, has already benefited around 50,000 students, schools, and teachers.
