Samsung Electronics today announced that its SmartThings platform has achieved the prestigious ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security management systems.
This international standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is a globally recognized benchmark for companies seeking to demonstrate robust information security practices.
The certification, awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI), signifies that Samsung’s SmartThings Cloud adheres to the highest standards of information protection, covering 123 detailed items ranging from information security policies to access control and incident response.
“This certification is a testament to our unwavering commitment to protecting the privacy and security of our users,” said Seungbum Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics. “In today’s increasingly connected world, we understand the vital importance of safeguarding sensitive information. This achievement reaffirms our commitment to building a secure and trusted platform for our users.”
The ISO 27001 certification is expected to significantly enhance user confidence in Samsung SmartThings. This achievement, according to Harold Pradal, President of Assurance Services at BSI, recognizes the “excellent operation capability and security level” of the platform.
This distinction not only strengthens user trust but also boosts Samsung’s business competitiveness. The company plans to leverage this recognition to further solidify its position as a leading provider of secure and reliable connected living solutions.
“The importance of cloud technology and information protection is increasing exponentially,” stated Pradal. “Samsung’s commitment to achieving this certification underscores its dedication to creating a safe and secure environment for its users, which ultimately strengthens its competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving connected living market.”
With this certification, Samsung reiterates its commitment to ongoing security advancements. “This is just the beginning,” said Choi. “We will continue to explore innovative ways to further enhance security measures and ensure that our users have complete peace of mind when using our personalized SmartThings services.”
