This past Saturday, I got to experience the Gordon’s High Tea Experience at Holiday Inn Nairobi Two Rivers—and let me tell you, it was anything but your regular afternoon tea.

Stylish, flavourful, and full of personality, the event struck a perfect balance between posh and playful.

From the moment guests started arriving, it was clear the dress code meant business—pastels, crisp whites, and bright summer tones set the mood.

The drinks were the real stars though. Think gin-infused tea cocktails like the Gordon’s Martini Tea and the Gordon’s Earl Fizz—each one more refreshing than the last, and a bold departure from anything you’d expect at a typical tea setup.

Food-wise, Chef Robert and his team at Holiday Inn delivered. There were freshly baked scones, dainty finger sandwiches, and perfectly curated desserts that paired effortlessly with every cocktail. It was indulgent in the best way.

We did get a little surprise rain in the middle of the event, which meant the Gordon’s mixology challenge had to be moved indoors. But honestly, the shift didn’t slow anyone down—the energy stayed up and the creativity kept flowing.

Guests got to show off their cocktail-making flair, and the top three winners—MaryAnne Kisera, Bancy Nyawira, and Betty Muriithi—walked away with some exciting rewards, from a premium staycation to Gordon’s merch and bottles.

Elizabeth Otieno, Brand Manager, Gordon’s, put it perfectly. “Seeing our guests immerse themselves in the creativity, flavors, and vibrant spirit of the Gordon’s High Tea Soirée was truly exciting. This wasn’t just about tea; it was about celebrating the zest of life in every sip and every moment.”

Stage Revolution brought the live music, while DJ Shwatz and DJ Taylor kept the tempo steady throughout the afternoon.

But the real highlight? A live karaoke session after the main event, led by Anto Neosoul. It was spontaneous, energetic, and easily the most unforgettable part of the day. Everyone—from first-timers to karaoke veterans—grabbed the mic and had their moment.

Pooja Patel, General Manager, Holiday Inn Nairobi Two Rivers, added: “This collaboration with Gordon’s allowed us to create a dynamic and immersive high tea experience, seamlessly blending tradition with modern indulgence. I am proud to announce that the special tea cocktails will now feature in our drinks section menu, so feel free to come and experience these amazing cocktails. We look forward to hosting many more unique and vibrant experiences in the future.”

In short, the Gordon’s High Tea Experience was vibrant, stylish, and everything you’d want in a modern tea affair—with a little gin, a little rain, and a whole lot of fun.
